Environmental Permitting – Soft Drinks Factory

Environmental permitting is a legal requirement for many facilities, although not all are aware if it applies to them. Without a proper permit, companies and directors are at risk of large fines and even prison sentences. The permitting process can be a long and complex one and needs expert guidance. We provided specialist support to a rapidly growing Welsh soft drinks manufacturer as its production level increased to the point that it needed a permit.

• A strong interface with the Environmental Regulator throughout negotiations. As the facility straddled the English / Welsh border this meant complicated interactions with both the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.
• Help implementing Best Available Techniques at the site – the Regulator can only permit facilities with excellent environmental protection measures.
• Support preparing and implementing a company Environmental Management System (EMS), another permit requirement.
